Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers about our portable PA systems. Still need help? Our U.S.-based support team is ready.

General
Anchor Audio systems are made in the USA and built for simplicity, durability, and crystal-clear sound. All units are battery-powered, wireless-capable, and designed for instant setup with no technical expertise required.
Depending on the model, Anchor Audio systems can project sound to audiences of 100 up to 5,000+ people, making them ideal for everything from classrooms to large outdoor events.
Yes. Many of our systems include built-in Bluetooth for music streaming and wireless microphone options including handheld, headset, and bodypack, giving you full freedom of movement without cables.
Place your sound system approximately 10 feet from the first row of the audience, centered in the room or field, with the speaker at head height. If using a companion speaker for a large crowd, position them on either side of the stage or presentation area for the best distribution.
Battery & Power
Most Anchor Audio portable PA systems provide 6 to 8 hours of continuous use on a full charge. Battery life varies depending on volume level and accessories used. If the battery LED is flashing or unlit, plug the system in to recharge. You can continue to operate the unit while charging.
Yes. Lithium Iron Phosphate batteries have a much lower energy density than conventional lithium batteries, making them inherently safe with no shipping restrictions. Each pack includes a built-in battery management system (BMS) that prevents overcharging, over-discharging, and overheating, and keeps cells balanced for long-term performance.
Refer to your system manual (available on the product page) for battery maintenance guidance. For replacement batteries, visit Anchor Audio Parts or call us at 888-585-9535.
Wireless & Microphones
Check the AA batteries first. Turn the mic or belt pack on and look for the red LED to flash once and stay on (good batteries). Continuous flashing or no flash at all means the batteries need replacing. If the mic still does not work, confirm that the frequency number on the mic or belt pack matches the frequency number on your sound system.
As of August 1, 2014, Anchor Audio wireless products in the USA operate in the 540–570 MHz range (8000 and F1 series). Products made before that date operate in the 682–698 MHz range (7500 and U1 series). In Europe, products operate in the 863–865 MHz range.
Switch to a different frequency channel on your sound system and match that frequency on your microphone or belt pack. With up to 16 channels available, you should be able to find a clear signal quickly.
Move further away from the unit when speaking. With a wireless mic, you can roam up to 200 feet. Turn the mic off when approaching the system to adjust volume or swap media, and avoid standing directly in front of the speakers.
Yes, this is normal. A low-level white noise can occur, especially when the treble control is turned up. This is a characteristic of the electronic design that allows the system to deliver strong audio output with high battery efficiency, and is not a defect.
The gain knob controls mic sensitivity. If the system volume is at maximum and you still are not loud enough, turn the gain knob clockwise. If you are experiencing distortion or are too loud, turn it counter-clockwise. Belt packs ship with gain set at the halfway position.
Linking Multiple Systems
Yes. Many models support Anchor AIR wireless connectivity, letting you link multiple units without cables. For the Beacon, Liberty, Go Getter, and MegaVox, you can also wirelessly connect two main units using a WB-8000 beltpack and a 6000-14P cable. The Bigfoot uses a WB-9000 and ALB-9000 beltpack pair in a similar setup.
Liberty and MegaVox units designated with an "X" (8000X, 8000XU1, 8000XU2) include a built-in transmitter operating on 902–928 MHz with 100 selectable channels. AIR companion speakers include a matching receiver and pick up the audio signal when set to the same channel. You can transmit to an unlimited number of AIR units simultaneously, and they can be placed 300+ feet from the main unit.
All AIR units include a Wired Mode that lets the companion speaker function as a standard unpowered wired speaker. Power off the companion, flip the switch into Wired Mode, and connect using the appropriate speaker cable (SC-50NL for Liberty, SC-50 for MegaVox). The main unit will then power the companion directly.
Yes. Use the line output on the back of the AN-30 and connect a 3.5mm stereo cable to the line input of the next unit. Repeat for additional systems. A stereo cable is required when daisy chaining AN-30 units to avoid interference.
